Carlos P. Romulo was a devoted boy scout throughout his life—one who upheld the values of helping others and honoring God and country. He was co-founder of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines in 1936 and recipient of the Silver Buffalo Award from the Boy Scouts of America (1952), an achievement shared by Colin Powell, Walt Disney, Neil Armstrong, William Howard Taft, Bob Hope, Yogi Berra, H.R.H. The Prince of Wales, among other luminaries.
“To work for boy scouting is to work for the youth,” said Romulo in 1948, addressing the Boy Scouts of the Philippines. “To work for the youth is to work for today. To work for today is to work for tomorrow. And to work for tomorrow is to work for peace.”

liana, i spent a few hours this afternoon re-reading your blogs on your grandad Carlos and it was a great review of history and the problems we have faced in the world. I’m a former IBM collegue of your dad Bobby and have been to the Philippines a few times. I also have filippino friends here in the U.S. You are to be congratulated on the work you are doing to perserve the history of Carlos and his visions for a better world.
