Mr. Oscar M. LopezOscar M. Lopez
Chairman Emeritus, Lopez Holdings Corporation and First Philippine Holdings Corporation

Mr. Oscar M. Lopez is the Chairman Emeritus of both the Lopez Holdings Corporation (formerly Benpres Holdings Corporation) and First Philippine Holdings Corporation (FPH).  He has been a member of the EDC Board of Directors since the Company’s full privatization in 2007.

He is one of the most respected and admired business leaders in Asia. He has several awards and recognitions to his credit, including: the most prestigious Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2005—the first Filipino businessman to be awarded with this honor; the 2011 Ramon del Rosario, Sr. Awardee for Nation Building. He is also the recipient of honorary degrees from the University of the Philippines, Philippine Women’s University, De La Salle University, and Ateneo de Manila University.

Named by Forbes Magazine as among the “Heroes of Philanthropy” in Asia, he is involved in several social and environmental concerns. In 2006, he was honored in Monaco with the IMD-Lombard Odier Hentsch Distinguished Family Award for “an outstanding commitment on philanthropy for the family’s achievement in excellence such as the clarity and sustainability of their social endeavors, exemplary corporate governance, a focus on family values, and the involvement of multiple generations.”

Honorary President, International Social Security Association (ISSA)

She earned her Master’s in Business Administration degree from Cornell University as a Fulbright and University of the East scholar.

She was the first woman to be admitted as a Partner of Price Waterhouse International in 1973, and the first woman to be named Senior Partner and Chair of Joaquin Cunanan & Co. (now Price Waterhouse Coopers – Philippines) in 1981. In its 47 years of history, she is also the first woman to be appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Social Security System in August, 2001. On the international arena, she was the first Asian and also the first woman to become President of the International Social Security Association (ISSA).

She has served as President of many professional organizations, including the Management Association of the Philippines, Financial Executives Association of the Philippines, Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Cornell Club of the Philippines, and the Philippine Fulbright Scholars Association. In 1995, she was elevated to the PICPA Accountancy may of Fame, and was hailed as The Outstanding Filipino in Public Accounting in 2000. She has received many more awards and commendations in her professional career, a testament to her many achievements.

She is the recipient of several awards including, among others, TOWNS (The Outstanding Women in the NAtion’s Service), and the Outstanding Professional in Public Accounting from the Professional Regulations Commission.

 

Dr. Chung Shemg Lee Dr. Chung-Sheng Lee
Senior Assistant Research Fellow, Deputy Manager, Earthquake and Manmade Disasters Division National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction

He  is the Senior Assistant Research Fellow and Deputy Manager of Earthquake and Manmade Disasters Division at National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction (NCDR) in Taiwan. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Chung-Yuan Christian University, Master’s degree from National Central University, and Ph.D. from the University of California at San Diego (UCSD). The general focus of Dr. Lee’s work is on Critical Infrastructure Protection Management (CIPM), Earthquake Impact Assessment and Disaster Risk Management, Seismic Design, Blast Protection Design, FRP Composite Applications, and Large-Scale Structural Testing. He is the committee member of National Critical Infrastructure Protection Project of Taiwan. He is also the committee member of the Hospital Fire Emergency Response Review Project of Taipei City.

Practice Leader, Risk Consulting Practice Asia, Singapore
JLT (Jardine Lloyd Thompson Limited)

He is the Practice Leader for JLT (Jardine Lloyd Thompson Limited) Asia’s Risk Consulting Practice based in Singapore. His role is to design, deliver and project-manage risk consulting resources within Asia.

He has substantial global experience having worked in South East Asia, Russia and Central Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America. At present, he has advised various organizations in meeting their Corporate Governance requirements, developing Enterprise Risk Management frameworks, embedding Business Continuity Management programmes, undertaking Project Risk Management and Risk Audits. This work has included many organizations drawn from all major industries.

Prior to joining JLT, he was the Risk Manager at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in New York, with a practice focused in managing the organization’s Business Continuity Management, Enterprise Risk Management, and Fraud Risk Assessment programmes.

Apart from earning a degree in Risk Management, he holds an MBA from Strathclyde University Business School in the UK and an Executive MPA from New York University, USA.

President and CEO, National Reinsurance Corporation of the Philippines

He is the President and Chief Executive Officer of National Reinsurance Corporation of the Philippines (NRCP), from April 01, 2014. He has been a strategy executive for the last 8 years: heading Mergers & Acquisitions (M & A) of Peak Reinsurance Hong Kong, and before that; Managing Partner of New World Financial Canada. Before the jump to senior management, he was a Reinsurance Underwriter for Swiss Re in Canada, Australia, Switzerland and South Africa from 1996 to 2005. He started his career in management consulting with IBM in Tokyo, Arthur Andersen (SGV and Co) and EasyCall from 1989-1996. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of the Philippines. He received his Master’s degrees in Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the Schulich School of Business at York University.
