It would take great courage, wisdom and understanding to try and spark the "divine" in the heart of the enemy when your immediate urge is to strike instant fear and then death to the enemy. I believe igniting that spark of the divine is the mark of a true diplomat. Carlos P. Romulo is indeed one very rare "Creature" :)+

I am doing our family tree. I never realized that I am somehow share
the same family tree of Virginia Llamas. Virginia & my grandmother were first cousins. Margarita Vidal & Felicia Vidal were sisters, daughters of Hugo Vidal & Simplicia Gomez Vidal. I came from Margarita Vidal's daughter Natividad Abanilla. My mother is Josefina Aquino Zaguirre. Virginia came from Felicia Vidal Llamas and married to Carlos Romulo. As a child, my grandmother took me many times to their home in Pagsanjan. She was very beautiful. I did finish our family tree SEVEN generations, it was awesome. I took time researching for our ancestors. I hope the future generations of our
tree will treasure this and continue in the future. God bless.

Mr. Carlos P. Romulo was just a name I encountered and memorized during my history classes in elementary and high school but seeing "The Romulo Reader" wedged between two other books in Manila City Library one fateful day changed it all. Though I was not fortunate enough to have been alive during his time, reading "The Romulo Reader" thus far has given me a more personal sense of the man who gave his whole life to the Philippines. To put it shortly, his words will forever remain immortal to the world and will continue to inspire generations of Filipinos! Thank you for giving me a chance to be inspired patriotically through "The Romulo Reader"!

The house is still there to this date. Currently with a market value of $1.8M. With the history of the Romulos - it should be priceless.

Liana, you are blessed to have a lolo like him. He is blessed to have someone like you to continue his legacy even in your own little way. However, the power of online will make "little" not so little anymore as it will reach more than newspapers or magazine can. It would be nice to meet you in person and share about your lolo's dreams and achievements, which gave me the same feeling while watching "Independence Day".

Hi Liana,
I found your site while researching the centennial book I am writing for the Rotary Club of Oakland, California, the third oldest in the world. Thank you for sharing your grandfather's history and writing so eloquently and compassionately about the man. I am inspired.

What a great man, a great Rotarian, and a great message.

All my best to you!
Linda

What a beautiful story and a wonderful woman for an equally great man. I'm touched and inspired by this story. Thank you for this site where we can see CPR as a man, a hero, and a leader!
